Weeks 25 and 26 and 27

Wow, three weeks of updates. I guess I am a bit behind.

Well, the pregnancy is...moving forward. My heartburn is horrible and I can't wait to take my Pepcid morning and night. The hours in between are no good. I've also been getting nauseous and sick again. With Sydney I was nauseous the whole pregnancy and began getting sick in the six month through the end. Frequently. Well, apparently I mentioned to too many people that I felt great, because it has snuck up on me. I've been sick a few mornings now, argh. C'mon little man, be good to mommy.

I've started organizing the little man's clothes. Leiann brought me over bags of Kaden's old clothes which are great-pretty much all Janie and Jack and Gymboree. Yes please. I have purchased a few things of my own so it's nice to go through everything and we are off to a great start. Sydney was excited to see all his new clothes and told me she will help me dress baby ever day. I have a feeling she is going to be a great little helper.

Here's the update for each week:

Week 25
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Week 26
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days.

Week 27
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Next week is the first week of my third trimester!!!

I've been waiting to hear how the pregnancy was going!!! I'm so sorry that you're getting sick again and that the heartburn is bad!!! That really stinks. But if baby boy is anything like his older sister, you certainly prove the heartburn and baby with lots of hair theory!!! I can't wait!

I'm wishing I had bought stock in GlaxoSmithKlein with all the TUMS I've been eating daily. It's been worse the last few weeks. I used to just have the hb at night, but now all day. Ergh. I'm at week 35, and in the home stretch!

Oh, man - I'm with ya! I couldn't wait to take my pepcid (I even doubled up today) this morning, because my stupid hb kept me up most of the night! Geez! Maybe I won't have a baldy this time if the heartburn/lots of hair thing is true! We'll make it! Sorry to hear you're getting sick now! He's a little stinker already ;) Boys start that early!!!
