Apple is a nice baby name...

Just kidding...I'm not Gwyneth Paltrow.
The baby is the size of an apple though, wow. Baby is growing! Here's the 15 week update:

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam.

Only five weeks until we find out if we're having a boy or girl apple!! :)

2nd trimester

I have officially entered my second trimester! Wow, this first trimester went by fairly quick...I am sure I won't be saying the same thing come November. I've been feeling really good this pregnancy, and sometimes find myself asking, "Am I really pregnant?" I've been nauseous only a handful of times and that was at the beginning of the pregnancy. I do wake up and go to the bathroom like 5 times a night, and man-the heartburn lately has been no good. Other than that I've been great. What a difference from my first pregnancy when I was nauseous every single day and still getting sick near the end of my pregnancy.

Here's the week 14 update:
Welcome to the second trimester! This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

Week 12 appointment

Today I had my 12 week dr. appointment. I met with the NP Kim, who is awesome. Totally love her. We heard the heartbeat on the doppler (Sydney was with me and heard it too.) Everything looks great. My blood tests from last time came back and everything looks good-except I am a little anemic- but barely. You are supposed to be at level 25 and I am at 24.5. The dr. told the NP it wasn't a big deal but I think I might take some iron supplements so it doesn't become a problem later on. My blood pressure is good (120/70 I think....now I'm not positive.) According to the NP it's perfect. Everything else looks great. I still haven't gained weight which is a good thing.

My 16 week appointment is July 1st and the BIG 20 week appointment with the ultrasound to determine baby's gender is July 31st, woo hoo! I can't wait!!!

Week 12 update

Twelve weeks already-I can't believe how time flies. Sometimes I really don't feel pregnant because I have been feeling so good. Then I get some awesome heartburn and I remember.

Here's the update this week:

The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.
