Weeks 22 and 23

The pregnancy is going mucho bueno. Baby boy O is kicking like crazy-Sydney never kicked this much. He is definitely a party animal at night, and the party starts in my belly at approximately 10pm or so. Today I was watching tv with Sydney and I noticed out of the corner of my eye my belly completely move-like a tidal wave. Up until now I have felt it but never saw it. Whoa nelly-it was crazy. Apparently he picked up some stuff while watching Gymnastics at the Olympics.

The heartburn has been horrible. Although he is going easy on me with very little nausea, the heartburn has been BAD. I am recommending dumping your money into some Pepcid stock because I will be inhaling the stuff like crazy over the next few months. Wowzers. Oh yes, and junior also loves to tap dance on the bladder. Not nice. I still get up to hit the bathroom a few times a night. I miss full nights of sleep.
Sydney is pretty excited about baby brother. She talks into the microphone (my belly button) and says hello. She kisses and hugs my belly, and recently started cuddling with my belly, it's so sweet. Today she put a balloon up her shirt so she could be pregnant too.

I mentioned before how I was so excited to buy boy clothes-well the excitement is gone. It was fun for a while, but like Kellye mentioned, EVERYTHING has cars and trucks on them, and once you buy a few, the thrill is gone. Then I find myself browsing into the baby girl section and saying, "oh, they didn't have this when Sydney was a baby." I finally end up in the toddler girl section where I buy a few things for Sydney. I have bought more clothes for Sydney recently than baby boy. sigh. I really do have an addiction to girl's clothes, hence Sydney's 17 pairs of shoes*. And yes they all fit now, I don't buy them in advance or anything. I need to get professional help. GCA-girl clothes anonymous. The kid has more clothes and shoes than Anthony and I combined.

*In my defense-a couple pairs of shoes were cute hand me downs from Ari and Ivy, so I didn't buy them all.

Here are the 22 and 23 week updates-

Week 22:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Week 23:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.

Yep...looks like baby boy is giving you a preview of what he'll be like on the outside...which is the part that can't quite be put into words....that response you get from people when you say you are having a boy...the "Oh....boys are....um....GREAT!" Ha ha! They really are great, but from every mom of a girl and a boy tells me, boys are entirely different! But it's great! I don't know what I'd do with a girl these days! Glad everything is still going great! I can't get over how quick this is going by!
